The Round table on discussion of transboundary water resources use and protection was held in Astana in the the House of Majilis on April 24, 2018.  The Round table was held within the framework of the Chamber's Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security. The meeting was attended by deputies, representatives of state bodies, akimats of a number of regions, experts in the water management sector, international organizations, including representatives of the International Water Assessment Center.

Under the theme on the agenda, there was a discussion of the existing issues in water resources use of the transboundary rivers of Kazakhstan, Central Asian countries, Russia and China, in particular, the lack of clear mechanisms for cooperation on the use and protection of transboundary water resources of neighboring countries, the outdated legal base in the field of transboundary water use in the region, problematic issues of specific rivers, such as the Ural, Chu and Talas.

The opening of the 8th World Water Forum was held on March 19, 2018, in Brazilia on the theme: "Sharing Water ". At the Forum, the delegation of Kazakhstan headed by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Brazil Kairat Sarzhanov was presented by the Director of the Executive Directorate of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Bekniyaz and the Director of the International Water Assessment Centre Serik Akhmetov.

From 5 to 6 March 2018 the First Technical Meeting of experts on joint Kazakh-Russian studies of Kazakhstan's transboundary rivers took place in Uralsk (Kazakhstan). The research is carried out within the framework of the joint project of the EU / UNDP / UNECE "Support to Kazakhstan for the transition to a green economy model".

On 8 and 9 February, 2018, the 26th meeting of the Bureau of the Water Convention (hereinafter - the Convention) will be held at the Palais des Nations, Geneva (Switzerland).

The event was held within the framework of the regional meeting on the National Dialogue on Water Policy in Kazakhstan, which was organized with the official support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in cooperation with the regional project of the European Union for Central Asia.

On October 18, 2017, the Meeting of the Task Force on Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystem was held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

On 16-17 October, 2017, the Global Workshop on Water Allocation took place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, attended by S. Akhmetov, Director of IWAC.

The 8th World Water Forum will be held 18 to 23, March 2018 in Brazilia ("Sharing Water").

The World Water Forum is considered the world's largest water event, held every three years by the World Water Council in close cooperation with the host government. The mission of the Forum is aimed at achieving four main goals: increasing the importance of the role of water issues on the political agenda; assistance in deepening the discussions on the solution of international water problems in the 21st century; formulation of specific proposals and addressing universal attention to the importance of water issues and the creation of political commitments.
