On December 21, 2021, the first technical meeting of experts of the project "Development of joint measures to prevent and respond to pollution of the Syr Darya river in emergency situations" was held.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and agree on a work plan for the implementation of project activities. At the meeting, information about the project was presented, including the assignments of the experts, the draft work plan, as well as the structure of the final report. In addition, each expert presented brief information with his own vision for the implementation of the project components.
The project "Development of joint measures to prevent and respond to pollution of the Syr Darya river in emergency situations" is aimed at reducing and preventing pollution of water resources of the transboundary Syrdarya river by assisting the Joint Kazakh-Uzbek Working group in developing joint measures to prevent and respond to emergency water pollution. The project involves experts from Central Asian countries, in particular from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The project is carried out with the financial support of the European Union in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the International Water Assessment Centre.
