December 10, 2021 in Nur-Sultan under the chairmanship of Erbol Tashimov, Chief expert of the Directorate of international water relations of the Department of Transboundary Essentials of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan the Fifth meeting of the working group on the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the Bureau of the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (hereinafter - the Working Group) was held.
At the seminar, the participants discussed the results of the Conference on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Waters in 2022.
Following the meeting, it was decided to prepare proposals for the implementation of decisions made at the Ninth Session of the Meeting of the Parties, as well as prepare cost estimations for representatives of Kazakhstan in the activities planned under the Water Convention in 2022.
The meeting was held with the participation of state bodies of Kazakhstan in the videoconference mode.
The Working Group serves as a permanent working body on the implementation of the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Bureau of the Convention. It was created by the order of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 39 dated 28.01.2019. The Working Group serves as a permanent working body on the implementation of the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Bureau of the Convention. The International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC) is responsible for the functions of the Secretariat.
Kazakhstan assumed the Chairmanship of the Bureau of the Convention at the Eighth session of the meeting of the Parties, which was held in Nur-Sultan from October 10-12, 2018 The Chair of the Bureau elected Zebeshev Ardak Amirkhanly, Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
