The Second meeting of the Working group on Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Bureau of the Convention on the protection and use of transboundary watercourses and international lakes was held on 14 December 2020 in Nur-Sultan and chaired by Vice-Minister of ecology, Geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nysanbaeva E. N.

At the meeting, participants discussed the activities carried out within the framework of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Bureau of the Water Convention, considered priority areas of the Convention's work program for 2022-2024 and the work plan of the Working group for 2021.

The meeting was held with the participation of interested state bodies of Kazakhstan in the mode of a video conference.

The Working Group serves as a permanent working body on the implementation of the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Bureau of the Convention. It was created by the order of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 39 dated 28.01.2019. The Working Group serves as a permanent working body on the implementation of the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Bureau of the Convention. The International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC) is responsible for the functions of the Secretariat.

Kazakhstan assumed the Chairmanship of the Bureau of the Convention at the Eighth session of the meeting of the Parties, which was held in Nur-Sultan from October 10-12, 2018. The Chair of the Bureau elected Zebeshev Ardak Amirkhanly, Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
