Nur-Sultan, April 29, 2019.  The ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of water management between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Interior of Hungary (hereinafter - the Memorandum) took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Saparkhan Omarov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mr. Mihai Varga, Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary, Minister of Finance of Hungary.

The Memorandum will create the basis for the development of cooperation between the two sides on issues of integrated water resources management, as well as strengthen cooperation on the implementation of the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes between the two countries.

As part of the Memorandum, it is planned to support the activities of the International Water Assessment Centre, as well as the development of cooperation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular indicator 6.5.2.
