The 6th High Level Conference was organized with the EU-Central Asia Platform for Cooperation on Environment and Water Resources, includes the following priority areas as environmental management, climate change and water management.

January 24-25, 2019, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 6th High Level Conference «European Union - Central Asia» was held with the participation of ministers, high-ranking diplomats and specialists from Central Asia and the European Union countries.

Participants had exchanged views and defined priorities for future cooperation between the EU and Central Asia on a wide range of issues related to the environment, climate change and water resources.

During the Conference, the participants noted the need to develop and implement concrete projects and measures in the field of environmental protection, including those aimed at improving the ecological and socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea area, water conservation and rational use of limited transboundary water resources within the EU-Central Asia cooperation platform.

As a result of the Conference participants had defined key areas for cooperation between the EU and Central Asian countries, including reaffirming the need to strengthen national water policy dialogues with EU support, give a new impetus to integrated water resources management under due consideration of the interests of all countries in the region, improving the regulatory legislation and monitoring of water quality, etc.

Further work on the implementation of the final provisions adopted at the Conference will be carried out by the EU-Central Asia Working Group, acting as a working body of the EU Platform.
